Twelve wineries from DO Conca de Barberà took center stage during the first weekend of “El Mercat” Wine and Cava Festival. Guests had the opportunity to taste our exceptional wines and learn more about local winemaking.
Although Sunday happened to coincide with national legislative elections, “El Mercat” still drew enthusiastic crowds from both near and far.
This year, we welcomed wine lovers from Tarragona province, the Barcelona metro area, and more visitors than ever from abroad.

Montblanc, Wine, and the Middle Ages
The evolution of Conca de Barberà viticulture is closely tied to the history of our region. The earliest records date back to Roman times, and possibly even before then. However, it was in the Middle Ages when viticulture began to play an important role here. This makes Montblanc Medieval Week the perfect time to showcase DO Conca de Barberà wine and cava.
As in previous years, Medieval Week is expected to draw large crowds. We’re delighted that so many of these attendees will also have the opportunity to taste and learn about our wine at “El Mercat.”
While at the Festival, make sure to save room in your glass for Trepat. This wine made from the eponymous grape variety native to Conca de Barberà is light, fruity, and smooth.
“El Mercat” Wine and Cava Festival will take place over the weekends of April 27-28 and May 4-5. As this event coincides with Montblanc Medieval Week, visitors can also enjoy the Medieval Market, shows that depict life in medieval Catalonia, and exhibits honoring Saint George, Catalonia’s patron saint.
