History
The Agricultural Union, a basilica structured winery, was constructed in 1917. Its wine producing section commissioned the construction of a winery to the architect Cèsar Martinell i Burnet. The two storey building is a beautiful example of the modernist agrarian architecture. It was inaugurated in 1919.
Its façade is made up of two entry doors in the form of half point arches, that place the axis of each one of the steps between the tubs. The plant is made up of a central vessel with an individual cover of two slopes with wood lapping supported by solid brick pillars. The side vessels are smaller in height, with a large window that allows interior ventilation for the must fermentation and illumination of the central space.
The tubs are organised in four rows, two central and two that completely occupy the side vessels, on top of traditional vaults separate from the floor to take advantage of the space below. Under the steps the are subterranean winepresses.
