ABADIA DE POBLET – 2002
A ruby red colour with violet tones.
It is intense and very perfumed in the nose, typical of cold vintages, where the floral tones of the varietystand out over a ginger background. The ageing in barrel has supplied a cast of other aromas: high roasted, smoked, tobacco leaf, under-wood, spices,...
In the mouth it has softness and elegance typical of a Pinot noir, with a light entrance and a passage through the mouth, although with body and volume. The acidity accentuates the fruit sensations and gives it a plus in the persistence at the end. It is a wine that combines aromatic softness and structure thanks to the notable presence of tannins which, however, appear well united and ripe.
LES MASIES DE POBLET
It stands out in taste immediately for its complexity in nose and mouth. The aroma is potent, not exempt of elegance. An intense ripeness of the grape – typical of the 2001 vintage – it offers over ripe forest fruit tones and of some dry fruit (maybe the fig is the closest). The oak appears in a subtle way contributing smoky and high roasted tones that are very pleasing, as well as a perfume that reminds us of cedar.
In mouth it is voluminous, concentrated, warm and long: a harmonious fruit and spices prodigy that closes with a tannic sensation that makes it suitable for delicious protein dishes, not necessarily meats. In its passage through the mouth, it offers a sensational texture; it is dense, sweet, velvety and with marked slickness.
Gastronomia
The Pinot noir wines are the most versatile red wines for combining; their elegance and refinement make them splendid a companion of bouillabaisse soup, risotto, pate, any fish with texture (tuna, salmon, monkfish,...), and its tannin goes well with duck, pheasant, veal, etc. Creamy cheeses, of cow or goat, are always a good companion with our wine. A star garnish: any accompaniment with mushroom base.
